CAD Technician

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Globalforce Services - specialising in international recruitment on technical positions - is looking for a member of the Technical Department for our client, specialising in civil engineering/constructions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Undertake all necessary CAD drawing and detailing associated with the manufacturing of precast products
• Producing Autocad General Arrangement and Reinforced Concrete details, with associated reinforcement scheduling for projects, ensuring conformance to specifications
• Carry out design calculations
• Produce Schedules for procurement and or manufacturing
• Liaising with internal and external Clients, Contractors and Consultants
• Ensuring work output conforms to specifications and standard/code requirements
• Maintaining project records
• Liaising with the factory Production Teams
• Assist with drawing queries from estimating and commercial staff on technical matters regarding product use and manufacture
• Keeping up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to the job
• Carry out other reasonable requests made by the line manager to support departmental or company objectives

Essential:
• Hold an ONC/HND/BTEC in Civil Engineering or Construction related discipline
• English & Maths equivalent to Grade C or above
• AutoCAD experience
• Excellent computer skills with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office in particularly Excel
• Experience in Reinforced concrete detailing
• Good time management skills with the ability to prioritise work and manage a number of tasks concurrently
• Ability to work on own initiative but understand level of responsibility within the team
• Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written
• Ability to interact with a wide range of people including clients, contractors & consultants
• Involved with reinforced concrete design in a civil engineering environment
• Demonstrate the ability to work calmly under pressure.
• Be a highly motivated individual with initiative, self-confidence, with the drive and ability to work under their own direction or within a team of professionals
• Be keen to develop their individual capability and career development
• Hold a valid driving license

Desirable:
• Previous experience of working in Precast Concrete manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of Civil Engineering products (eg Drainage pipes/manhole/shafts/cover slabs)
• Experience in a BIM software package.
• Knowledge of Eurocodes
• Previous design experience would be an advantage
• Willingness to continue personal development
• Specific Autocad qualification
